Adding an Asset Catalog Field

Asset Catalog Fields are used to categorize and filter Assets.

Catalog Fields can have multiple Labels. For example, the Catalog Field for Industry may have Telco, Healthcare, and Manufacturing as Labels.

An Asset can have several Catalog Fields. Catalog fields are available to group or filter:

Assets through Asset > Setup.
Automation through Hubs > Automation.
Filters through Hubs > Filters.
Recommendation Rules through Hubs > Recommendation Rules.

Note: The catalog field is added to the Asset object by default. To add a field to another object, return to the previous page and select the required object before creating the field.

To add an Asset Catalog Field, follow the steps below:

From the Left Navigation Menu, click Setup. On the Setup listing page, under Content, click Field Management.
On the Field Management page, under Asset, click + New Catalog Field.
In the Asset tab section, enter the required information in the following fields:
- Name: Enter a name for the catalog field.
- Code: Enter a unique code for the field. The code is generated automatically from the name, but you can modify it before creating the field. The code cannot be changed after the field is created.
- Description: Enter a description of the field (optional).
- Field Type: Select the required field type: PickList or Multi Select PickList.
- Data Type: Specify the data type. This field defaults to String. Picklists always store text.
Under Options, configure the available values:
- Label: Enter the value displayed to users.
- Internal Value: Specify the value stored internally. By default, it matches the label.
- Click Add option to add a value. You can also press Enter to add an option or paste a list of values to add multiple options at once.
- Use the drag handle to reorder options or the delete icon to remove an option.
- Select Internal values to display the internal values.
- Click Sort Z-A to sort the options in descending alphabetical order.
- Click Bulk add to add multiple options at once.
Review the configured field and its options. Click Create catalog field.
