What are Custom fields?

Custom fields are user-defined data fields that allow you to store additional information beyond the standard or default fields provided in a system or platform. Custom fields let you tailor a form, record, or data object to capture information specific to your business or use case. Custom fields let you store specific data on Leads, Assets, and Experiences. They can be used for many different purposes... they are "custom" to you!

Custom fields can prove to be extremely useful in various ways. You can create a custom field to track URL parameters, hidden field values, etc. The exact use case depends on what you're trying to accomplish, but the flexibility of our custom fields empowers you to store all the relevant data in one place.


How to create a Custom Field

  1. From the Left Nav Menu, click Setup > Field Management (Only available for Hushly Administrators)

  2. Select the Object (Lead, Asset, Experience, Stream, Account, or ABM Page) for which you want to create the Custom Field

  3. Click on New Custom Field.
     
  4. Configure the Custom Field Properties, see below:
  5. Click Save


Custom Field Properties

  • Name: The display name of the custom field as it appears in the UI.
  • Code: A unique identifier used programmatically to reference the field.

  • Hidden: Toggles the visibility of the field in the UI (Yes = hidden, No = visible).

  • Field Type: Specifies the input style, such as textbox, dropdown, or checkbox.

  • Data Type: Defines the type of data allowed, like text, number, or date.

  • Default Value: Pre-filled value for the field if no user input is provided.

Populate Default Value

You can assign a Default Value for the field by choosing from the sources shown below. Multiple sources can be added, separated by commas.
