How can I implement a Canonical URL globally?- FAQ

Modified on Wed, 8 Jan at 2:05 AM

You can apply your canonical strategy globally. Using canonical URLs globally, across all hubs, helps improve SEO, avoid duplicate content issues, and ensure that search engines recognize the preferred version of content. When applied across multiple hubs, the canonical URL strategy ensures a consistent approach to content indexing and ranking.

The Global Canonical URL is a custom feature. Please reach out to your Hushly Customer Success Manager to have this functionality enabled. Once the Global Canonical URL functionality is enabled, the Canonical URL for the stream item will be consistent across all hubs in Hushly, allowing search engines to index the asset using the same URL.

When an asset is first added to a stream in a Hub on Hushly, its canonical URL is set automatically and is shown as blank. If you add the same Asset to another Stream,  the system automatically assigns it the canonical URL from the first Stream. This ensures that the same canonical URL is used for the asset across all streams within the Hub, helping search engines identify the preferred version of the page for indexing and ranking.

Note:

  • Previously, this functionality was limited to individual Hubs. Now, Hushly has introduced a new feature that allows canonical URLs to be applied globally across all Hubs.

  • If you have configured a Canonical URL at the Asset > Setup, it will automatically apply globally to all Streams and Hubs, and the Global flag will not override this setting.
