FAQ on RSS Feeds

Here are some of the most Frequently Asked Questions about RSS Feeds:

Q: The number of Assets created from the Blog posts is less than the number of items on my blog. What should be done to get all the items of my blog post in?

A: For most of the RSS feeds, the number of posts included in the feed would be fairly low: usually, the latest 10 to 25 would be displayed. If you don't change this number, this will be the maximum number of items that will be pulled into Hushly, even though you have more posts available.

Since you generally want to pull all existing posts in the blog into Hushly, you would have to make this number as high as possible, as same as the total number of posts in the blog. Once the import has been completed, you can set it back to whatever number you prefer.

On initial sync, the maximum number of posts that you can pull into Hushly is 200.

Q: Why do the synced items from my blog look different in Hushly?

A: The synced items from your blog will not look the same in Hushly, as the HTML content only will be imported and not its styles. If you want to use the item content in hubs to look like your blog, you would have to configure the same styles in the hub branding.

Q: How do I fix the thumbnail that does not load for an asset? When and why does this happen?

A: Hushly automatically generates a thumbnail for an asset with the image tag mentioned in the RSS Feeds. The thumbnails don't load when the destination path in the image tag of the item is changed, misspelled, incorrect, deleted, or renamed.

You can fix this issue by modifying the image tag in the RSS Feed and updating the RSS Feed data. When the next hourly RSS Sync job takes place, the images will get updated.

Q: How to update an existing blog in Hushly?

A: If the date of the existing item is updated in the RSS Feeds. The hourly RSS Sync job in Hushly would check the latest date in the RSS Feed and update the existing items.

Q: If any changes are made to the original blog post, will the imported blog post also change?

A: Yes, if you make any changes to the original blog post, similarly, these changes are applied to the imported blog post and are updated only after the hourly RSS Sync job is done.

Q: If a new item is added to the blog post, would that get updated in Hushly?

A: If a new item is added to your RSS Feed, the hourly RSS Sync job would check for the newly added items in the RSS Feed and create a new asset accordingly.

Q: What happens if an item on the blog post is deleted / When an original blog is deleted? What changes will happen to the imported items?

A: If you delete an item in the blog or delete the original blog post, the imported item will not be deleted in Hushly.

Q: How to add the RSS Feeds - Assets to a Stream?

A: Once the RSS Feed is created in Hushly, all the articles are added as assets. To add these Assets to a stream, you can refer to Adding Assets to a Stream document.

Q: How to add the RSS Feeds - Assets to an Experience?

A: Once the RSS Feed is created in Hushly, all the articles are added as assets. To add these Assets to an Experience, you can refer to the Adding Assets to an Experience document.

Q.Why aren't thumbnails appearing for my blog posts after RSS feed syncing? Or how can I ensure image thumbnails are pulled in when syncing blogs via RSS feed?

A.In an RSS feed, if the blog does not expose the image thumbnail, the system cannot generate or pull it during syncing. For thumbnails to be correctly fetched, the RSS feed should include the <media:thumbnail> tag.

Q.What does the "Remove Asset With Feed Entry" option do?

A: This setting controls whether an asset is automatically removed when its RSS feed entry is deleted.

  • If the toggle is off (set to No), the asset will remain in Hushly even if the RSS feed entry is removed.
  • If the toggle is on (set to Yes), the asset will be automatically deleted from Hushly when the corresponding RSS feed entry is removed.
