Adding a Custom Lead Field

Modified on Wed, 29 Mar, 2023 at 4:56 AM

You can define custom fields for Leads to add additional information. The additional information, when published to your Marketing Automation Platform (MAP) can be used to categorize the leads based on the users.

A custom field defined for Leads is available to all Leads managed by Hushly. However, you can define, edit, and delete the custom lead fields. Once defined, they are always associated with the leads published by Hushly.

To add a Custom Lead Field, you can follow the below steps:

  1. From the Left Nav, click Setup > Field Management.

  2. By default, the Lead Fields page is displayed with the Standard and Custom Lead fields.

  3. Click New Custom Field.

  4. In the Add Custom Field pop-up window, enter the Name of the Custom Field.

  5. Modify the code. The code is auto-generated when you type the name. The code captures the button-click event. This field serves internal purposes.

  6. By default, the Hidden button is set to No. Optionally, set it to Yes, to hide the field from appearing in the Leads > Lead Fields.

  1. Click the Field Type drop-down list.

Using Field Type, you can define two types of fields:
    1.  Select Picklist to provide a list of choices.
      • Enter a default value, as shown in step 8 below. (Optional)
      • Click +Add Value to add values (labels).
      • The Values will be displayed in the order that they are added but can be reordered/sorted via drag and drop.
Note: When the form field is used anywhere for Experiences, Stream items, or Hubs the picklist will be displayed in the order that you sort here.

      • Click Save. The Custom field is created.

    2. Alternatively, select Textbox to provide for entering text.

    3. Click the Data Type drop-down list and select String for accepting text input or Number to accept numeric input into the field.

    4. Optionally, enter a default value, as shown in step 8 below.
    5. Click Save. The custom field is created.
  1. Enter the default value of the field.
Optionally, you can obtain a default value from the dynamic sources such as parameters, cookies, and hidden fields by clicking the button.
    1. Select a source.

    2. Enter a default value for the selected source.

    3. Click Assign.

    4. Click Save.

  2. The custom lead field is added to the list of lead fields with the icon.
