The recommendation rules (Hubs > Recommendation Rules) are used to create personalized content recommendations to the user, based on user groups.
Hushly provides for a Recommended for You section in a Stream. You can configure rules to display relevant Assets from other Streams in this section. If a recommended Asset is also part of the Stream, the Asset is not displayed in the Recommended for You section.
To personalize content recommendations:
- From the Left Nav Menu, click Hubs.
- From the Hubs page, click the Hub.
- From the Hubs menu, click Recommendation Rules.
- From the Recommendation Rules page, click Add Rule in the upper-right corner of the page.
- Enter the Name and Description of the recommendation rule.
- Click All Streams or Specific Streams to apply the recommendation rule to all the Streams or specific Streams respectively.
- All Streams: The recommendation is displayed in all the Streams.
- Specific Streams: The recommendation is displayed only in the selected Streams.
- Click Item Level, Stream Level, or Both to show the Recommended Section for You.
- Item Level: The recommended Assets are shown in the left-pane when viewing an Asset.
- Stream Level: The recommended Assets are shown above the Stream when viewing the Stream.
- Both: The recommended Assets are shown above the Stream when viewing the Stream and in the left-pane when viewing the Asset.
- Enter the Max Recommendations that can be allowed.
- Select a Segment or Custom from Rules. Segments and custom rules are personalization levels.
- If you select Segments a list of segments is displayed. The segments should have been defined already using Setup > Segments
- If you Select Custom
- Select the audience (using Page URL, Page URL Path, Traffic Source), location (using IP Address, Country), and device type. To know more about rules, refer to the topic, More About Rules.
Page URL: URL of the page where the Recommendation should show up.
Page URL Path: Part of the page URL.
Referrer URL: Reference URLs are the URLs that refer the user to the webpage.
IP Address: IP address of the device accessing the webpage.
Traffic Source: Search engine or website.
Stream Name: The Stream name within the Hub.
Important: If Data Providers such as Bombora, 6sense, are configured for your firm, you can create rules based on data as well.
- Use the following comparison criteria to define a rule.
- Enter the value for the rule in the text box.
- To add another rule, click Add Rule and repeat steps Select audience to Enter a value.
- Click Match ANY Rule to configure what rules should be matched.
Match Any: The Hub is launched when at least one rule matches the user’s state.
Match All: TheHub is launched when all rules match the user’s state.
Match Advanced: The Hub is launched when the combination of rules matches the user’s state. Note: To know more about rules and how to define rules, and matching the rules, refer to the topic, More About Rules.
- To sort the order of the defined rules, Click on the icon to drag and drop the rule in the position required.
- Click Add Filter to add a new set of rules. Match ALL Filters drop-down list appears when you add more than one ruleset.
- Select the audience (using Page URL, Page URL Path, Traffic Source), location (using IP Address, Country), and device type. To know more about rules, refer to the topic, More About Rules.
- Select None, if you do not want to build any Rule.
- If you select Segments a list of segments is displayed. The segments should have been defined already using Setup > Segments
- In the Recommend From section, select:
- All Streams: Assets are recommended from all the Streams in the Hub.
- Specific Streams: Add a Stream. The Assets are recommended only from the selected Stream.
- AI Engine: The recommended asset are selected based on the Inclusion Rules and Exclusion Rules. By default, the toggles are set to No, you can enable the toggles to Yes for the rule you would like to use.
- Inclusion Rules: Select the catalog field type and the equal field from the drop-down list and click Save. The assets that are selected will be displayed at run time.
- Exclusion Rules: Select the catalog field type and the equal field from the drop-down list and click Save. The assets that are selected will not be displayed at run time.
- Click Add Filter to add a new set of rules. Match ALL Filters drop-down list appears when you add more than one ruleset.

- Click Save and the Recommendation Rule is displayed on the recommendation rules page.
