You can track online traffic using cookies, event handlers, and tracking codes. A cookie contains details of a user’s activity on a website, such as the pages visited and the contents of the user’s electronic cart. A website that uses cookies saves the cookie on the user's device and retrieves it when the same user returns to create a seamless experience.
To configure Tracking:
- From the Left Nav Menu, click Setup > Settings to open the Company Settings page.
- In the Tracking section on the Settings page.
- Enter one or more cookie names separated by commas.
- Enter the event handler code. Optionally, use the event handlers using the links available below the Event Handlers text box. You can read more on Event Handlers.
- Enter the tracking code for downloads. Optionally, add the Lead and Asset tokens in the tracking code using the link below the Tracking Code text box.
- Enter the URL parameters such as campaign name, source, medium, term, and content in the Attribution section. When the Experience or Hub URL is accompanied by the URL parameters and their values and a Lead is submitted from an Experiences or Hub, the UTM parameters’ values are passed as part of the URL and reflected in the Lead’s Attribution field section.
- Example: https://mydomain.com/hub/?utm_campaign=marketingCampaign
When the link is published, the parameter marketingCampaign is recorded as part of the Lead attribution fields.
- Example: https://mydomain.com/hub/?utm_campaign=marketingCampaign
- Click Save.
