Importing Accounts

When you need to create several Accounts, manually creating each account one by one is a tedious process. To make things simple, we have the Account import provision to create multiple accounts in a short period. To import accounts, a template .csv file is provided to download. Add the respective columns in the file, and then upload this .csv file - which will create the Accounts in the system with all the details listed in the file.

You can follow the below steps to import the accounts successfully:

Downloading a CSV File:

  1. From the Left Nav Menu, Click ABM > Import. 
  2. On the Import page, select Accounts from the Import drop-down.
       
  3. On the Import Accounts - Upload CSV file pop-up window, you can choose between the Basic Template or Advanced Template. Download the template CSV file and save it in your system.

Inserting Data into CSV File:

  1. Open the downloaded template CSV file. 
    • Basic Template:

  2. The CSV file consists of column headers which are classified into Standard Fields and Custom Fields. You can enter the data under their respective columns.

    This column is optional and is an alternative name of the Account. Enter the Alias Name.

    Domain
    This column identifies the Website. Enter the Domain.

    This column is optional and is an alternative domain for the main domain.
       
    Logo
    It is an image that represents the account. Enter the URL of the logo.

    Cluster
    Enter the existing cluster name in the system.
    Informational Technology
    Default StreamEnter the stream name.Hushly content hub.
    Account Rep Email
    Enter the email address of the existing Account Representative in the system.

    Enter the account rep video URL of the existing Account Rep in the system.

Custom Fields:

Custom Fields for an Account are additional information about the account. the Custom Fields for an Account are defined under Setup > Field Management > Accounts. Custom fields can be of data types such as string, number, and pick list. You can enter data accordingly for these custom fields that are associated with the account. 


Once the data is entered, Save the file, and  Import the file. 


Importing Accounts:

To import an Account(s) you can follow the below steps:

  1. From the Left Nav Menu, Click ABM > Import and select Accounts under the Import button.
  2.  On the Import Accounts - Upload CSV file pop window, Click SELECT FILE TO UPLOAD and upload the above .csv file from the file browser, or if the file explorer is already open you can drag and drop the .csv file here.

     

    Note: 
    You can upload only 1000 Account records in the .csv file. The below screen is displayed when the .csv file has more than 1000 records.  

  3. After you upload a CSV file, the Import Accounts - Field Mappings window appears. By default, the Import Name field displays the .csv file name, however, you can make changes to the import name field.

  4. Select an option under Manage Duplicates. You need to specify what the system should do when it encounters a duplicate record during import. You can select which information source wins. Click here to find out more
    • Skip: is used to avoid updating account information that already exists.
    • Update: would only insert the missing data of the account from the source.
    • Overwrite: would update all the information of the account from the source, except for an empty/blank value for a field in the source file.

  5. You need to map the required fields that display as the column's Header in the .csv file. Click Import.


     Note:  
    • Field - Name and Domain are mandatory, these fields must be mapped with the header columns of the .csv file to continue with the import.
    • If the column header name matches the field's code name it will auto-map and If the column header name doesn't match the field's code name then it must be mapped manually.

  6. The Import Account - Status window displays the status of the .csv Imported File.
    • Import InProgress Screen 


    • Import Account Success Screen
         
    • Import Account Failure Screen.
      Note: When importing the .csv file, If the account data matches an existing account or the data being imported is of an invalid format, then the rows of data that are unappropriated are listed with the reasons mentioned under the Reason column.

  7. Click Close to display the Account Details.
     
  8. Once the File is imported successfully, the accounts in the file are created and displayed as Type-Targeted on the Accounts listing page.
